In July of 2017 I had the wonderful opportunity of participating in the Veriditas Labyrinth Summer School, held near Petaluma, California. The sessions provided us with the training to become labyrinth facilitators - equipped to work with groups interested in exploring the labyrinth through labyrinth walks and talks relating to the historical background and uses of labyrinths in a variety or ritual settings. Our coursework also included sessions on labyrinth design and construction.
Since completing this summer school I have had rich opportunities to practice what was taught, including putting some labyrinths on the beach at Cayucos during low tides! Using a simple garden rake to mark out the design and do a bit of decorating, it was a great way to spend an afternoon - and a pleasure to see beach walkers step in and stroll through the labyrinths before continuing their beach combing...
